Help pick a reverb

Sign in to disble this ad
I need a reverb pedal, mainly for cavernous organ-like sound (think of guitars from God Is An Austronaut).
Two most obvious choices are Strymon Blue Sky and Iron Ether Nimbus. Blue Sky cost more but I saw them for 250 used so the difference with Nimbus is not so big, it seems to be more versatile and it has favorite footswitch. But Nimbus is Iron Ether
Would like to hear some opinions. If you have other suggestions I'd be happy to listen to them as well.

I'd pick the Nimbus. Demos:

Eventide Space can create some epically huge atmospheres that are loads of fun to toy with, but incidentally, it also comes with presets that are actually usable (like one of the best springs I've heard from a pedal) However, it comes at a substantial price to your pedal board's real estate, not to mention your wallet. That being said, both of those sacrifices were quite worthy in my opinion.

I haven't found any good bass demos (I'll have to make one) but
here's an example of a moog voyager going through one if you want to take a quick jot through some of its algorithms.

Never owned a Nimbus, but the BlueSky is the bees knees. I owned one, sold it, and now deeply regret doing so.

I'd be interested in trying a Nimbus as well someday, or at least hearing from someone who has tried/owned/owns both.

dunno...boss rv5 works pretty well...I know it's digital, but i've tried holy grail, fender spring reverb pedal and some others,and,suprisingly-boss rv5 knocked them all out, soundwise and with numerous possibilities...though I'm using 'spring reverb' almost all the time(trails are WICKED),all the other parameters are very good also..

currently using an electro-harmonix cathedral, really happy with it. Also used TC electronics nova reverb which I hate with a vengeance. I also have an old Holy grail which is simple and effective.

I have the Nimbus, and I don't think any reverb could be better, especially considering the price.

Like anything else the larger question is what price range does the OP have? If price isn't n option then the options are fantastic. If price can go to $200+ I enjoyed the Eventide or Nimbus (I kept the Nimbus). But if price is a significant issue the Boss pedals are not all that bad at all. There is a subtle difference between the RV2 and RV5 as one does somethings better than the other and so forth. But for the price ($100) they record well and handle a great amount of abuse. There is a issue with many (including the Boss): they use up battery life seriously FAST. In fact the Boss advises the use of a 9VDC converter (Wall-Wart) rather than a battery.

thanks guys.
I think Space is too much for me in price and real estate.
I listened to Nimbus demos before but the sound I'm looking for is not demoed in there.
