Hi,

I'm a bit of a newbie when it comes to the bass guitar - had my entry level Ibanez GSR200 a couple of months now and getting interested in effects pedals now I have a few (and only a few!!) of the basics down.

I am being drawn to a bass synth pedal (potentially the boss or electro-harmonix given the deep impact is so hard to find AND so expensive!!) but to be honest I think this might be cos it sounds cool!

Any advice any of you can give on what would be a wise investment for a first bass pedal would be very gratefully received!!

Thanks!!!

Maddy

Personally, my first pedal was the boss ME-20B. on it are a variety of effects including synth, wah, octaver, and fretless simulator. it costs around the $300 range, but trust me dude: it's worth it. it runs on 6 AA Batteries, but you can get a wall adapter for $25.

A multi fx pedal. I used a boss gt10b for a couple of years until I found what effects worked for me. I got mine used for 300 bucks, that 3 pedals right there.

If you are fairly new to BASS playing you will be better of getting something like a JAMMAN SOLO pedal, this will help you get better at playing, it has a built in metronome, built it drum beats and such and you can dub and over dub, meaning you can record your own bass line and then learn to solo over it and such, my best advice for your FIRST pedal, it can even record from an MP3 player and you can learn songs bass lines by slowing it down with out changing pitch so you can figure out the notes, the pedal you are mentioning is just to change sounds but really will not help you in any other way since you are starting out, hope this helps.
