Help with power supply

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm currently looking for a power supply to power the following:

Korg DT-10 Tuner
T21 SBDDI
Boss CEB-3 bass chorus
DOD FX25B Envelope Filter

The envelope filter is a positive ground. The rest I am unsure about. Would a normal Boss power supply work to power these? (I plan to power the Korg and daisy chain from there) I don't want to spend any more than 30 dollars or so.

You sure the FX25B is a positive-ground pedal? It might just be center-positive. I'm not too familiar with most DOD pedals, unfortunately. I'll see what I can find out and post here again.

All the others are center-negative, 2.1mm barrel, 9VDC pedals. In other words, any Boss standard pedal power supply will work on them without anything special needed.

With a $30.00 budget, look no further than the Visual Sound 1 Spot. It'll power all your pedals with ease. A regular Boss power supply can provide more than enough power for all of those pedals, but you're better off with room to grow by purchasing a power supply with a higher current limit (1700mA, as opposed to the Boss PSA-120's 300mA).

Regarding the daisy chain... you don't have to set up the Korg as the start of the chain. The 1 Spot plugs directly into the daisy chain cable, and you simply plug in the pedals however you like.

The official Boss daisy chain requires a pedal with a DC-out jack... I'd avoid those because they're short and impractical.

Everything I can find says it runs on a normal Boss-style power adapter.

...that is, unless you own a really old one. Does it have a "phone jack" plug?

If so, Visual Sound also makes an adapter plug for that. Just get the 1/8" adapter, plug it onto any barrel on the daisy chain, and voila - problem solved.

Thanks a lot for the quick reply. As far as the DOD, it says on the back "Use a 9 volt D.C. positive ground power supply". Perhaps I misinterpreted?

I just read that the 1-spot does power DOD PS 200R inputs, which is what mine is, so looks like exactly what I was after. Thanks again.

Hmm. Perhaps they used the wrong terms. Diago and other power supply manufacturers list it as working fine on a daisy-chain power supply.

Is the jack an open barrel with a pin in the middle, or is it just a small barrel like a headphone jack?

EDIT: Nevermind, you already found your answer.

It has the pin in the middle. No different than the other pedals' jacks.
