Help! Rusty Box owners using Voodoo PP2+...

Sign in to disble this ad
I will soon be the proud owner of a Rusty Box, but have just noticed that it's power requirements are much higher than a typical pedal. Hmmm. I have a PP2+ setup on my board, and have read some posts here on TB and elsewhere (yes, I searched) as to voltage doubling cables, using two 12V spots on the PP2+, using a 12V plus 18V, etc on the RB. Couldn't get a definative answer on what others are doing to properly power their RB with the PP2+, while making sure not to damage the RB. Would those of you enjoying the RB with PP2+ give me specifics on your power configuration (ie. 12/12, 12/18, dip switch configs)? And if you are using a voltage doubling cable provided by VooDoo labs, can you refer me to the specific one you bought and are using in your configuration? (They have several cables on their site to consider).

I don't want to buy the wrong cable, nor do I want to mess up the RB pedal by setting up incorrectly. Thanks for any help you can provide!

You want the 2.5mm (center positive) voltage doubling cable (part #PPEH24). Set your dip switches on two of the first four outlets to the 12v setting, so that the doubler will sum them to 24v.

...or use the (usually) provided power supply that (should) come with the Rusty box. I like the all-in-oneness of a PP2+, but use dedicated wall warts for certain pedals, and always have a spare power strip for just such a need. That leaves the PP2+ open for all 8 9VDC outs to be used on other pedals.
