Help to set up pedals

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey!

I need some help to set up my pedals on pedalboard...i have 5 pedals:

- Cry Baby Wah Wah
- MXR M80 D.I ( i use it for distortion )
- Boss Super Octave OC-3
- Boss Tune TU-2
- Oliver Equalizer G70B

I've read some forums and i understand that the best set up is:

Bass > Wah Wah > MXR > Equalizer > OC3 > TU-2 > Amp
or
Bass > TU-2 > Wah Wah > MXR > Equalizer > OC3 > Amp

What the best way to have a great sound?

Thanks

Dave

I'd go with the latter of the two setups

I think I'd run it:
Bass > TU-2 > Wah Wah > OC3 > Equalizer > MXR > Amp

That way you have the EQ towards the end to make up for any sound loss and the MXR at the end for the DI to go to a PA system. YMMV

BASS > Tuner > wah > MXR > EQ > OC-3 > AMP

Depends on taste. I've read here that some favor the octave closer to the bass.

Tuner, wah, distortion, octave, eq. Also try wah just after the distortion for a variation that might work well.

I was under the impression the octaver should be towards the start of the chain so as to improve tracking...? Me, I use a microPOG, so I don't have to worry about tracking, anyway.

I would go with octave > distortion > wah personally.

Yup. I go octave>dist>wah>delay>modulation, myself.

Id go Tuner > octave>distortion>wah

But it all depends on what sounds you want to make... theres no right way to do things (besides that octavers track better closer to the beginning of the chain)
If you have multiple pedals on at once such as your distortion and wah, try them in different spots to see what sounds best to you.

step 1: plug in two pedals and play
step 2: swap them around and play
step 3: decide which order you like best
step 4: add another pedal and play
step 5: move it to different locations and play
step 6: leave it in the location you like best
step 7: repeat 4-6 until you've done all your pedals
