Help with signal chain/DI

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to use my SABDDI as a DI box, but don't want to use it as my tone all the time. Basically I want to stomp it on for my rock tone, and stomp it off for my clean tone for the softer tunes.

Is there any way I can run my chain so the SABDDI is used as a preamp + direct box, bypassing my amp's tone when it is engaged, but is a transparent direct box that uses my amp's preamp when disengaged?

My amp has an effects send and return, and there are 3 other pedals that I want to effect both tones.

Thanks in advance.

Run your Sansamp in the effects loop and your pedals before your amp. Just make sure your Sansamp is set to unity gain.

Running in the FX loop is not going to help you bypass your amps tone. Furthermore, it might actually distort depending on the level of your amps FX loop.

You need a special switching arrangement to do that. Basically, you want to switch the output of the BDDI directly to the FX loop return jack when the BDDI is engaged - this bypasses the preamp section. Then, switch the output of the BDDI back to the amps main input when the BDDI is disengaged.

The trouble will be balancing the levels between the two modes.

Didn't read it carefully enough. Theres no really easy way to bypass your amps pre sometimes unless it is foot switchable already. Best option IMHO would be to do what I said and you'd just have the tone coming out of your amp modified by your Sansamp rather then bypassing your amp tone.
