Help Wanted From Other Fuzz Lovers

Sign in to disble this ad
I've fallen in love with three different fuzzes, the Wounded Paw Attack Goat, the Tortuga Sasquatch & the Chunk Systems Brown Dog. Are there any fuzz pedals that can get me those types of tones without the supid price tag? (yes, I know the Brown Dog is a gated fuzz, whereas the other two aren't)

Thanks

The Attack Goat isn't that $$$ but if you what a similar thing and cheap: Guyatone The Fuzz or a boss hyper fuzz

devi ever makes a gated fuzz called The Bass Fuzz and will be called the Supper Massive Blackhole soon.

I think the Tortuga Sasquatch is basically a fuzzface and there are MANY fuzzface clones such as the MXR 108

But it is a muffiant not a supperfuzziant or a fuzzfaciant or a gated-fuzziant.

Z-VEX Mastotron is meant to be quite reasonable priced... Also the Electronix Messdrive / Facedrive (will have to be 2nd hand now though).

Would it be worth getting the Build Your Own Clone Fuzz Face clone? Note though, it would be my first time building a pedal.

don't get the guyatone. the bypass is crap and it's REALLY not a very nice fuzz on bass. i don't care what anybody says. you'll wish you'd invested in a more useable fuzz.

+1,000. I tried one in a music shop because people here were gushing about it. After about 45 seconds, I was wondering how high the crack smoker quota had gotten.

I keed on that last sentence.

Attack goat is $150. That's on the low side of QUALITY bass fuzz...

i think he rated it a "7" overall (though fwiw even he would probably tell you that he likes his fuzz on the extreme side). Check out the review on his website

The wounded paw is too expensive, especially compared to the others

In your opinion...

The Wounded Paw jawn is tailored for bass AND has a blend for $150 from a 'boutique' builder. $150 + great communication/support from Preston is a small price to pay compared to other fuzzes w/ a blend.

if it's the sound you want, i think the price is hella fair

i paid 90 for one and then traded it straight up for a cream pie
