Hematoma preamp question

Sign in to disble this ad
Judging by the name "Pre-Gain," I think I know... But is the preamp on the Hematoma before or after the overdrive? If it's before, is it useful as a drive boost, or is it more a volume boost (like the Boost on the Fulltone Bass-Drive)? Sorry if this has been answered before; I'm at work and only have so much time to be searching...

It's before the drive stage, and acts as a drive boost, but depending on your drive settings, you will get some volume boost as well.

By the way, the Hematoma is the most amazing sounding drive pedal I have ever used. It is simply amazing, and it has a HUGE range of tones to be had. I keep the drive around 9:00, and I get a pretty good level of grit out of my jazz with SD Quarter Pounder pickups, but you can get a huge wall-o-fuzz out of it if you crank up the gain.

From what I hear it is before, and yes it can be used as a drive boost, but separately as a clean volume boost as well. Definitely not like the Bass-Drive boost.

Good thread on all this:
