craigslist.com is cheaper but can be shady, TB has a classified section you can look at. As for brands, my boss chorus was great when I had it, line 6 can be decent, I'd start there and find what your ears like. My big thing with pedals is durability. Just one thing to consider.

My genuine opinion is get the Digitech Hardwire CR-7 Stereo Chorus.
heres a cheap one for sale:
http://www.dv247.com/invt/49102/

I tried one yesterday in a store, and i bought a used one today online.

i've had quite a few choruses and this might be my favourite, Its also one i would recommend to first-time chorus buyers and weatherd fx fiends alike.

main +'s:

7 different chorus modes, and they all have their own character.

The level is a blend, rather than a master volume.

Simple controls: Speed and Depth.

between the modes and the other controls, i think you could get whatever chorus you wanted.

Every time it's been necessary.

Get the classic Boss CEB-3 Bass Chorus. Works great for me. Sounds great. Easy to find, even used.

I got a Maxon CS-9 pro used for about 150 and it thoroughly dominates any other chorus pedal I've A/B'ed it with. If you can find one used it is the way to go.
