High-end multi-effect pedal boards

Sign in to disble this ad
As the title suggests, I'm looking for a high-end pedal board. I've got the Line 6 Bass Pod XT Live and am not particularly happy with it. I don't really care so much about modelling as I'm extremely happy with my sound as is. I want to upgrade the board big time. I like the convenience of an all-in-one unit.

I did a search and went through around 9 pages and read about the BOSS stuff and Rocktron stuff for example but is there anything better out there?

I am requesting a best-of-the-best list. Thanks in advance for any help with this matter.

I guess the TC Novas would fall under high end - as well as the carl martin quattro (be it a guitar box ). . .

Thanks for the reply but after a quick review of their websites, they both seem to be for guitar.

EDIT: Sorry, went to the home page for TC and am now looking at the bass pedal boards. After looking at the site, I don't see a multi-effects pedal board???
EDIT 2: DERP!!! Guitar effects pedal boards for bass .... who knew? (besides probably 90% of the people in this forum)

um...you're playing a bass guitar.

flow with it and try these units out before dispelling them as guitar effects.

at least pretend you're smart enough to have figured this out by now

Try the GT-10B. It's the top of the line from Boss. And we all know that they make great products. Wooten uses a GT-6B and i think someone said that we now uses a GT-10B.

I have one. And i can say it's very high quality in the effects. It has a loop, and you can use it for recording.

And it's bass oriented! unlike those guitar models.

Look at customaudioelectronics.com by Bob Bradshaw who does a bunch of pedal setups for the big name stars. He has some sweet stock products but also does custom builds. Might be what your looking for.

lol duly noted .. fairly new to effects but definitely not new to bass playing. Now that you mention it, I do remember seeing in a thread something about using guitar effects for bass. I think I immediately surmised that this might be something that a experienced effects bassist would be able to utilize properly. I'm not there yet. I am fairly unimpressed with the stomp box effects on the Line 6 that I have and sense that a lot of the engineering in this unit went into the modelling which I couldn't really care less about. I will see if there are any stores up here in Canada that might have some of these units to try out.

Note for myself: don't dismiss advice on a bass effects forum when the suggestion is a guitar effect. Thanks for the heads up.

gt10b is a good one, and the new line 6 HD500s are pretty damn nice too.

and FWIW I just told my Line6 rep that all they needed on the HD pedals is a blend feature & we'll be a lot happier with them . he wrote it down haha

General question here .... I checked out the TC Electronics G-System stats and it says that the maximum input level is 18 dBu. My active bass is pretty hot. Without true knowledge of the math involved, should I worry about clipping?

The Zoom B9.1ut is certainly worth checking out tube pre, all the efx you can shake a stick at, plenty of control & connection options.

The AdrenaLinn III might also be one to consider if you are looking for delay and sequence effects but it really take some digging into before it delivers it's treasures for bass, some very tasty effects that are hard to get w/o spending thousands for studio or synth effects.

I have the Zoom B9.1ut - I certainly wouldn't call it high end. There's no much stuff that just isn't tweakable enough.

TBH though, IMO there will always be something disappointing in any off the shelf multifx, no matter what the cost. I think you would do better making your own with stompboxes and something like the Carl Martin Octaswitch or one of the Gig Rig loop switchers.

This way you'll have the quality of pedal (with the tones you specify) and the convenience and switching options of a multi. Sure there are limitations, like changing signal path for instance, but it may be worth investigating.

I'd like the TC Nova if it were a bit more bass focused....

I'm still doubtful though about quality of effects on multieffects systems...but I would be happy to be proven wrong, I'd not mind at all having a complete all-in-one system,I'd love it being compact and with all presets!

I'm subscribe to this threat willing to learn more!

Maybe check out Axe FX. There's a thread about them. Big bucks, lots of programming I think, very very cool sounds.

Zoom B9.1ut is my fave for available new upper end processors. While I like the ring mod and overdrive a bit better on my prev processor (zoom player 2000B) along with that units easier ability to dial in desired sound, nothing I looked at when I needced to replace it could equal newer zom b9.iut inlcuding line6.
