I'm kind of in the same boat. I'd like to hear what you guys use. I'm handy with a soldiering iron and was looking for a place to source decent 90 degree 1/4" male jacks and decent cable but by the time I pay for not so great ends and the wire... I think there must be better options out there?

Lava cable patch kit is worth looking at. It's a solderless system that's has the thinnest 1/4" right angle jack available. The cable is thin and well balance. I use them on my rig and have never gone back. There are others but I liked how this worked for bass. You'll find this and other high end cables on Lavacable.com.

Neutrik NP2RX + Canare GS6 (or Mogami W2524) + Soldering iron = the best, most durable cable money can buy. And its a lot cheaper than going out and buying some "boutique" cable. Good luck!

I spent a lot of time on this problem a while ago. Here's what I settled on:

On ebay I found "UpScale Music". They seemed to have the best prices on the ready made cables I wanted (Canare GS6 cable with Neutrik NP2C / NP2RX Connectors) and I could barely beat the price if I got the materials and soldered them myself, so I went with these. Great customer service, too. Microphone Balanced Cables, Instrument Line Cables items in upscale music sales store on eBay!

Then for my pedalboard I saved a lot money (and was able to get exactly what I wanted) by ordering some bulk Canare GS4 cable (I dont' remember where I got the bast price) and ordered a bunch of GLS right angle connectors from Orange County Speaker 10 1/4" Right Angle Plug TS Connector GLS Audio #32-232 | eBay

Worked great!!!

I'm using the Planet Waves solderless cable kit. Similar to the
George L's which are also excellent. I've had them for a couple of years and I've rebuilt my board several times without a problem.

planet waves! the cheaper cables are good but really fragile

I find that the Lava and George L's are excellent for cramped boards that feature Line Selectors, and pedals with Effect/Feedback Loops. Trying to get four standard right angle plugs hooked into one pedal can be a bit of a nightmare. The minimalist approach of G L's and Lava plugs means that you have less to get in your way and muck things up.

Other then that there is something gratifying about DIY soldering up your own cables. If you have the space on your board and a relatively straight forward signal chain,...I definitely advocate for this route.

Nuetrik or Switchcraft Plugs and Canare Cable (Mogami is a bit overpriced IMO).

i really dont want to get crappy sound by using crappy cables.. so far monster cable studio 1000 pro... woooow... it amazed me.. its fast,clear...

I wired all my pedal board with Mogami. All others would do the job equally well, but I just love Mogami.

Make sure to make your own or ask a friend that can, the ready made ones can cost double than that.
