Is there anyone out there making more durable power supply cables? Looking for 5.5mm x 2.1mm Standard Center Negative and maybe a polarity reversing and/or voltage doubler... but mainly sick of the cheap light duty molded stuff not holding up to use.
I know a place that does electronics repair and warranty for a bunch of pedal manufacturers that I gotta talk to sometime soon. I bet they'll know where to get plugs to make up yer own cables. PM me an kick my butt if I don't post back in the next couple weeks.
Interesting... After over a decade of hard touring with a pedalboard - I've never had a single power lead fail. Have you?
I haven't had it happen or even heard of it happening. I haven't had a wall wart fail either but that doesn't mean I like them and think they're the best solution. For me it's about the cleanness of making custom lengths. Certainly if I were teching a board for a high mileage road guy I'd want to be able to do this just as point of professional pride.
I've had two go bad. Maybe the solution is just to buy more molded ones and stop throwing 25' instrument cables in my board bag.
Interesting,...
I think you're in the minority is desiring a more robust dc power cable. But that's ok!
Methinks if your cables are severely kinked or otherwise abused, there's not a lot of options out there!
I have dc cables that came with PP2+, T-Rex Fueltank, VS OneSpot and Gator G-Bus 8. The only ones that seem a little 'flimsy' are the Gator cables (also, SKB leads seem a little less robust).
