the beginning of the top song "I got worried".

to me, it sounds overdriven with a pick but I'm not sure. any other insight?

yep, that works for me. the treble sounds up a bit, more than the mids, and, as always with myspace, i cant hear the lows, but im sure theyre prominent given the style.

That's a pretty killer sound. I would say yes, it is overdriven, but it also sounds like there might be a second track going through a guitar amp. Anybody else notice that? I'm pretty sure I could get a pretty close copy of the overall tone with my VT bass, a StingRay and some new strings.

And it sounds to be crisp, new roundwounds too.

Thats definitely not a band my grandma would listen to! AFAIK..

Ah thanks! The idea that there might be a second track going through a guitar amp is interesting.

Ah yes, i've been looking to find this tone as well. reminds me of Bob Weston of Shellac.

I could very well be wrong. It just sounds to me like there is a nice solid, thick overdriven bass tone underneath a thinner, raspier, guitar like tone. It might just be two tracks, one with more distortion than the other, or a bi-amped or blended rig.
