Thumbs up Hipp'O Comp by U-SOUND

I had a chance to check out this fun-looking compressor last week. And I'm impressed! Never thought compressor might actually be so useful (I never used effects before, coz I prefer the minimalistic straight-to-the-amp tone).
Worth checking out!

Hmm... I wish the clips in the link would work for me. Anyone else having trouble with them?

I've been wanting to try one of those for a long time; recently I saw one user complain it was just a Ross clone, with the typical loss of low end of most Ross clones, so I lost interest. But if that one user was wrong, I would love to find out.

I don't know what do you mean by "for a long time" but these bass pedals are relatively new in their production line. They appeared about 2-3 months ago or so, so maybe you're thinking about something else.
And that "Ross" guy must be deaf.

I was told the clips will be up soon.

The U-Sound comps have been advertised on Ebay for at least a year already.

I am sorry, but this "one user" is not right. I make small quantity of these pedals, and consequently a sign personally almost with all their owners. All of them, on the contrary, mark dense "bottom" in a sound. If you specify an information source, it would be interesting to me, where you saw (heard) such response.

I do not remember which forum I saw that comment on. However you yourself say the Stamp'O Comp is a Ross type circuit, and the Hipp'O is the bass version of the Stamp'O, and the soundclip of it on your site: http://rushus.com/rusha/music/u/slap.mp3 has almost no low end. It is famously difficult to get good bass response from a Ross clone. The only one I know of that succeeded, the Barge, it lost some high end as a trade for lows.

Please understand I am not attacking, just trying to find the truth; and I would love to try one of these pedals in person sometime.

That I use in my compressor IC CA3080A, it yet does not say that is a clone of scheme Ross Compressor. Whence at you such information? Understand that I too do not attack, but your data are incorrect.
As to samples as you think, why a sample which you have in view of, has not got on my site?
I very much hope that shortly these bass pedals will appear and in the west (as some my guitar pedals) and you can appreciate them, probably even personally.
Samples "Hipp'O Comp" and "Fish Fuzz" will be shortly ready. I will inform on it here again.
With my respect.

The sample I linked is on that same page, right by the picture and text for the Hipp'O Comp. The samples on your u-sound.org site do not play, there is no link in the word "sample" there.

I find it interesting that the samples that are available on the MySpace and I'm assuming the U-sound page include the overdrive and the fuzz but not either one of the compressors. I tried to listen to them both through FF and IE and they are dead links. What gives?

I saw this comp on e-bay just this morning and was curious but for $220 shipped I'll wit until I've heard more.

u-sound, welcome to talkbass. Why don't you send one of these pedals to Bongomania to review. He is our resident compressor guru. If you check out the links in his signature you will see that he has considerable knowledge and experience with compressors. His opinion is well regarded here and a positive review from him could really boost your sales in the west.

I don’t even distrust of Mr. Bongomaniia experience and authority. I just would like to explain some of my terms.
First of all, I mean if someone use a same chip (IC CA3080A in this case) that uses in many others compressors, it doesn’t mean that the pedal is a "clone" or “based” on Ross Comp., whatever.
Also I’d like to notice that posted links here in the topic and an information from the Internet is unofficial. The only way to get a clear information is an U-Sound Official Website (www.u-sound.org).
Also I’m sorry about my emotions run a little to much out, but let’s use official sources only to get info. I guess you can understand that nobody but me could answer all the questions about my pedals.
What about bass-guitar samples, it coming very soon.
Btw, thanx for consumer and professional interest :-)

I look forward to hearing your new bass samples of the Hipp'O Comp! Thanks for being here to answer questions- otherwise all we have is information from non-official sources.

As I promised - video sample "Hipp'O Comp". It is probably too tightened at the expense of comments, but... As it has turned out. Comments in Russian but if at whom that is questions, I answer them.

In mother Russia, pedal compress YOU.

Better check with the Ministry of Officialities next time before you go making claims Bongo! And FYI, in case you didn't know, internets is serious biz, and everything you read is true- just thought I'd point out the not-so-obvious. There better not be a next time Bongo, or off to the Krem for reofficialization! And you know what that means! err... nevermind, I don't either.

Cool looking pedal, love the design. I'll be looking forward to some more objective, unbiased reviews. I'm not too big on compressors, but this unofficial thread has piqued my interest. *edit* Just watched the video, sounds pretty good.
