Hiwatt custom tube overdrive

Anybody tried this pedal with bass? Evidently we just got endorsed by hiwatt but there ain't no way I'm lugging around an amp that heavy! Not to mention I'm really happy with my current rig with the exception of the AGS on my Tonehammer. The volume boost is just too much but I would like some OD every now and then so since I might be able to get one of these hiwatts affordably figured I poke around TB and see if anybody tried it with bass. Well it is not available for discount and evidently they don't make many at all. They said they would let me know when the do another run of them. I'm afraid the 12ax7 would be a bass sucker when on and probably a tone sucker when bypassed. I still wanna give it a try though.

Why would a 12AX7 be a bass sucker?

I don't know that it would be but my guess is that it's set up for guitar.
