Hooking it all up?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've got a question regarding hooking my new Digitech BP-90 Stomp Box into my rig. This probably sounds really newbie and all so sorry for that. I've been reading the manuals for the Amp and for the Stomp Box and I can't find the answer I am looking for.

The Amp is an Ampeg SVT6-Pro. It has an effects loop.

The pedal manual says to set the tone on the Amp completely flat.

But I only want to use the stomp box for small bits and pieces, not all the time. I have the amp dialed in for nice tone when I have nothing plugged in now.

So here's the question(s)
If I plug the guitar into the amp and then use the send and return for the stomp box does the amp ignore the stomp box when it's on bypass and give me the EQ settings on the amp?

With the same set-up as above when I have an effect enabled on the stomp box does the amp bypass it's internal EQ?

I figured there's a lot more experience here who can answer this really quickly for me.

Traditionally, an effects loop is after the pre-amp (the input gain and EQ settings) and before the power-amp (master volume). Effects loops don't alter your amp's EQ at all.

Thanks! I did continue researching after the original post and I suspected that from looking at the block diagram from my amp but what I am stil unclear about is whether or not the amp detects when the effect is on bypass and applies the amp's internal pre-amp to the output or not?

I guess I could just fool around and test this but I need to buy some longer shielded cables to do that. If it's not going to work I'd rather save the $$$.

Any old guitar cable will do fine. Put the effector in front of your amps main input and go to town. It'll work!

Your basic tone will have to be compatible with whatever you're trying to get out of the pedal but that's pretty likely I'd say. You can probably "de-EQ" the pedal to account for your amp's colour anyway.
