hooking up compressor to SVT 4 pro

A friend of mine gave me a DBX 166xl, How do i go about hooking it up to my Ampeg svt 4 pro? Thank you.

Im not familiar with the DBX, but I'd assume that you plug your bass into it, turn it on, and plug it into your amp..

Or you can plug it in the amp's effects loop: DBX's output --> SVT's effect return and then SVT's effect send --> DBX's input.

afaik, the 166 is a line level comp, which means it should fit best in the effectloop as BM describes.
furthermore, this is more convenient when used in a rack.

I'm a dummy.. should have known it was a rack compressor. What they said- effects loop.
