Alright I did some searching around, and it has lead me here. I answered my previous questions, however, now I have more. Im not a very technological person so please bear with me. Also, Im not the most experienced effects wise. So here are my questions.
1) By buying the Bass Envelope Filter (BEF), I would recieve a card allowing me to get a free wired Hot Hand? No questions asked?
2) The HH and BEF work together when the BEF is on. Will the HH still work when the BEF is switched off and im running my clean channel?
3) Would the BEF work in a chain of other pedals, like a distortion or fuzz? Or only with other Source Audio pedals? Not sure why it wouldnt, but I just want to clarify.
4) Is the BEF like all other pedals as far as connections and power and all?
I think thats all I have for now. I know the president of Source Audio is on here and theres a few endorsing artists and all. So maybe some of them would like to chime in.
Thanks!

2) The HH and BEF work together when the BEF is on. Will the HH still work when the BEF is switched off and im running my clean channel?
| Nope. It doesn't do anything if the pedal is switched off. Quote: |

| It works beautifully with a fuzz or distortion in front of it. It works just like any other pedal. Quote: |
4) Is the BEF like all other pedals as far as connections and power and all?
| yup. Quote:

And thanks will for the quick reply! Those are the answers I was looking for!
Well I wish it would work on a clean channel, but I can see how that could cause a problem in some cases.

Well I wish it would work on a clean channel, but I can see how that could cause a problem in some cases. | Shipping is free from certain places. I bought mine through eBay and it had free shipping. These also pop up used in the classifieds here pretty often if you wanted to save some money. |

You could set the BEF to a full dry mix and use the HH to start wobbling stuff.

1) By buying the Bass Envelope Filter (BEF), I would recieve a card allowing me to get a free wired Hot Hand? No questions asked?
>>We will not be giving them out forever, but certainly the next 3-4 months. Shipping to Tulsa, OK is free. You do need to use the coupon which comes in the box. If you buy it used, be sure that the HH is included.
2) The HH and BEF work together when the BEF is on. Will the HH still work when the BEF is switched off and im running my clean channel?
>>The Hot Hand becomes the thing that controls the filter sweep when it is plugged into the pedal (instead of the envelope). When the pedal is in bypass it does nothing.
3) Would the BEF work in a chain of other pedals, like a distortion or fuzz? Or only with other Source Audio pedals? Not sure why it wouldnt, but I just want to clarify.
>>I agree that a distortion in front of the BEF does create some very interesting cool tones. I can, of course, make some recommendations with regards to distortion, but not very objectively!
4) Is the BEF like all other pedals as far as connections and power and all?
>>Yes. However, it does take a bit more current than simple analog pedals (about 110 mAmps). If you ever purchase the wireless Hot Hand, keep in mind that it will go up to about 140mAmps.
I think thats all I have for now. I know the president of Source Audio is on here and theres a few endorsing artists and all. So maybe some of them would like to chime in.
Thanks!

I will answer 3 and 4
3. Yes, it works great with other pedals. I am using for my play setup Digitech BSW in front, and the SA Bass Distortion Pro after. After playing with both of these individually, this where they sounded best for me. I also have played with a HOG, and I think is sounds best after.
4. The one thing I will say is different, is the Hot Hand is a four conductor connection, thus you will need that to chain that to other SA pedals. I did use a standard stereo 1/8" with 1/4" stereo adaptor from the BEF Pro Hot Hand out into the HOG's expression, and got some cool weird effects doing that when using the BEF Pro's LFO. Of coarse I did this before I knew that it was supposed to be a four conductor cable.... not sure what SA has to say about shorting the last connection of that is. |

| | Registered User President, Source Audio | | Join Date: Apr 2009 Location: Woburn, MA | | | Hmm. Well, the 4 conductor mini plug cable we use for Hot Hand has nothing in common with anything else that is out there. In case you are wondering:
1 - x axis signal from Hot Hand
2 - y axis signal from Hot Hand
3 - +5v supply voltage that goes TO Hot Hand to power the thing.
4 - Ground
I am not sure of the order of these, but those are the signals and they have no connection to anything else I know of. It is kind of interesting that using an adapter and another pedal actually did something. Just don't tell anyone at Souce Audio what you are up to!!! |

1) I would ask Thomann about this. They should have them.
2) If not 1), then ask Warwick (our distributor in Europe) how you can get a ring.
Has anyone out there purchased a BEF from Thomann? Did you get a wired Hot Hand?
If all else fails, touch base with us again. |
11-07-2011, 02:14 PM
| | | | Thomann says it's not included. I replied That I heard there is a promotion, but havn't heard back from them jet.
I'll keep you posted.... |
