How to add auxiliary input to multi-fx pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi guys, I've got a Korg Toneworks AX3b. It's a nice little multi-effecs pedal, but it's got one problem: no auxiliary input for cd/mp3 player, so I can't wear headphones while playing along to music. The unit has three 1/4" jacks: 1 instrument input, 1 amp/headphone output, and 1 expression pedal (that I never use). Before I rip this sucker apart to see whats doing inside, can someone tell me what would be involved in changing the expression pedal jack to an aux. input jack (without having a schematic available)? I would be fine with controlling the aux. input volume solely with the cd/mp3 player, so there's no need to add a new volume pot. Would it simply be a matter of wiring the exp. pedal jack to the output, or will I need a EE degree to figure it out?

Can't be done, not without significant EE knowledge. It's not a question of a jack, but of an active mixer circuit that would combine the aux input in stereo with the pedal's main output in mono or stereo. Even if you had the know-how, the amount of labor involved would just not be worth it.

Much easier to get a little headphone amp that has an aux input and an instrument input.
