How Can I Tell Which EB Volume Pedal I Have?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys, about two weeks ago I found a Ernie ball jr volume pedal at my bands rehersal space that the previous owner left and didn't want anymore. The pedal is not functional and I plan on selling it so t
he new owner can fix it but I'm not sure which version or "k" it is. I opened the pedal but no idea what I'm looking for. Any help? Thanks.

They use Alpha pots, where the resistance value is on the front, so I don't think you'll be able to find the resistance value without taking the pot out. On the other hand, since it's broken you may as well pull the pot and look at the front.

On the other other hand (for the tridexterous among us) it doesn't really matter too much what the value is since the pot might need to be replaced anyway.

Yep. It's likely to need a pot replacement anyways, and I would replace the string as well if I were purchasing it. But I'm kind of OCD in that way. (I have three replacement string/spring sets, and one each of the 25k and 250k replacement pots)

If I'm not mistaken, the volume taper would be off if you mis-matched the impedance of the volume pedal and your bass wouldn't it?
