I'm a huge fan of Anberlin's bass player Deon Rexroat and the tone he gets. Especially on this song: YouTube - ‪Anberlin - Godspeed‬‏
Listen at 2:17 for the bass solo.
How do I get this tone? Ampeg SVT? An overdrive pedal? Or two?
The more specific ideas you can give the better, thanks! |

The more specific ideas you can give the better, thanks! | i'm pretty sure it's "just" an overdriven amp/preamp.
it's kinda funny, years ago, before they were big, Anberlin came over to my house. i was working 3rd shift at the time and sleeping when i heard this piano commotion upstairs. it turned out my sister became friends with them during their last Columbus tour and invited them over. it was kinda weird, but they were all pretty nice. Nate, the drummer was pretty impressed with my basement studio. (i had/have a '66 Slingerland drumset that he loved.)
so yeah, random.

| | | | man Footbutt, that is cool! i'm extremely jealous.
i'm pretty sure he's driving an SVT, but it might be awhile before I can afford one of those.
as far as drives, i've heard the Blueberry is more transparent, maybe not?
and would an EBS valvedrive also be able to achieve this sound? |
