How do I map my own sounds to a pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
hey my band wants to cover a few songs that have various recordings and sounds etc that I want to be able to play at the press of a button. I figured I'd need a pedal of some kind and map it using some form of software and run it through my laptop and out the PA.. not a problem.. do you guys know any specific hardware/software off the bat?

thanks!

Sounds like you're looking for a MIDI controller. You want to be able to pull up sound samples on the fly, yes?

I'll just leave these right here:

Voodoo Lab - GCX Audio Switcher

Rocktron - All Access

Rocktron - Products - Controllers

RG-16 - Audio Loop Switcher / Function Switcher / MIDI Amp Controller - RJM Music Technology, Inc.

Etc., etc. Lots of options out there.

Do you want to use your feet? Because they also make controllers for Ableton like this:
Akai APC40 Ableton Performance Controller APC40 B&H Photo Video

Otherwise, I think you just get a program to map the controls to. MIDI is a pretty universal thing, so you can probably find stuff to help you

You may also want to look into some loopers. Boss RC-30 or Digitech Jamman may allow for what you want without the necessity for a PC interface during your gig.
