Sign in to disble this ad
I just put together my first DIY pedal board, and now it's too big for the cool old suitcase I carried the individual pedals around in. I'm tryign to find some reasonably neat carrying case -something better than the pink backpack I had to grab form the store room, at least.
Have you found any unusual but cool ways to haul your pedal board about?

i've had great luck with aluminum tool & gun cases. namely:
harborfreight.com for tool (these tend to be smaller) or for
25" - 48" x 15" x 6" search amazon.com for Rhyno AlumiTuff.
lots of other brands, shapes & sizes out there. these worked for me.

The new one I'm building is being built into an ATA Flight Case. You can get one of them for $80ish...I know that's not real cheap.... ATA Effects Pedal Cases |

my board is just above 24" wide, which makes it too big for a funky \ old suitcase... |

I keep my DIY pedalboard in a genuine meets-or-exceeds-ATA-spec-300 briefcase built by Future Cases in Massachussetts...and believe me, it cost a lot more than $80! Eighty bucks is a steal for something that really is ATA 300 compliant. |

| | | | I found a Gator bag that fits - they make a bunch of them that are sized for different keyboard units. Think that it cost me around $30. Mind you I wouldn't check it on a plane or let roadies throw it in the back of a trailer but for a no-name guy like me carrying my own stuff to gigs it works great. Mine holds my pedalboards, powerstrip, and two folding bass stands, and a music stand. |

my board is just above 24" wide | there's a 25" for $65 http://www.amazon.com/Rhyno-AlumiTuf...6243387&sr=8-1
or if you just google shop search "aluminum gun case" there are options from other manufacturers.
here's my 35" Rhyno
& my bass board, a harbor freight tool case. |

wrap the pedalboard in a beach towel. holds everything together and provides plenty of padding.
seriously,
I've brought a towel to every gig and have found a use for it every time.

Could use a towel as DIY pedalboard. Just roll up and go! Ultra-lite!

| | | | I just picked up a STAGG pedal case for my GT10B. Lots of room. for it and 3" inches extra on the side for power supplies, patch cords and other cables. The pedal Velcro's down to the case so its doesn't move around. Nice robust case. |

Rondo makes cheap pedal board cases too, no idea if they are worthy though.
I have a cardboard box that I built, but I'm not gigging it.

It's small enough that I have to maintain a strict one-in one-out policy on pedals.
