How does the BYOC Envelope Filter sound for bass?

filter440
Well? Does anyone have any experience with this unit with a bass guitar? How does it hold up to say MXR's M82? Does this unit supply sufficient bass response?
Sound samples would be very helpful. Thanks everyone!

i built one to bass spec (instructions to do this come included) and it sounded all right. I'm not a big filter guy so it was a cheap and easy way to play with one. Subtle, and it took too much attack to funk it up. maybe it's just me. Perhaps search to see if anyone uses an original 440 for bass, then proceed from there.

conversely, I've got a BYOC Envelope Filter modded to bass spec that i'd be willing to sell to you for cheap.

I had one for a little while, with the bass-friendly components, wasn't too impressed with it to be honest. I've never been a big fan of DOD envelope filters though.

I actually like the circuit. I don't have the BYOC but I have a MojoHand 442 Red. It is more subtle than some of the other filters out there but if you feed it a bright signal it has a great bite. Look up videos for the Boomstick Bottom Feeder, it's the same circuit as the DOD, BYOC, and the MojoHand filters.
