please, i need your help
i want to copy or emulate this amazing(!!??) guitar sound on my bass: Bass Solo Machine Gun Jam
All i know about his gear is a Lexicon MPX G2 (+ Jamman Looper), the bass he plays is a modified "Nobby Meidel" (Warwick).
So what effects (and in what order in the path) do i need to re-create this stunning sound? Any ideas? By the way: this guy is "UFO Walter" from germany, he might be one of the greatest bass players around Europe, he also tours with Randy Hansen (aka Jimi Hendrix clone) and he is a genius on his effects. |

The Lexicon G2 has all the effects to do this obviously - polyphonic pitch shifting with an expression pedal, reverb, flanging, analog distortion, etc...
Find one of those used (they are discontinued). Other than that, for the polyphonic pitch shift with dive-bomb expression pedal I'm not sure of what's out there that does that. Maybe the mighty EHX HOG? |

*ahem*.
Sounds absolutely fantastic. If I were to start going for sounds like that on a regular basis, I think I'd take the Fractal Audio Axe-FX route. That's a pretty killer pitch shifter sound right there, though. Love the ending.

He might be able to help you out personally.

The M9/ M13 has some pretty serious guitard tones in it as well. Not as good with the polyphony as the HOG but pretty solid guitard tones. |

Pitch up → Distortion → (T-)Wah → Reverb
The position of the dist and the wah could be the other way around, I'm not sure.
That should fit perfectly. |

And yes, of course you know he can sit in a pocket and groove as well, so no sweat.

I used to play stuff like this with a Digitech GSP21.
The best thing is that they costed an arm and a leg back in the day but can be found for next to nothing nowadays. |

what does "T-" wah mean? As opposed to a regular wah.
Plus, the squeal and sustain he gets---well, I don't think you'd get that from the line-up you suggest, right?

| | | | You can do something similar with an M13. Set expression pedal to one octave up at heel and two octaves up at toe. Now the octave will sound synthetic, so run it through some distortion, modulation/delay and reverb. You should be happy with the results. And don't play the theme from Top Gun. |

I know if you had an eventide pitchfactor or eclipse, they have patches in them that allow you to do such things. If I can bring it up to guitar pitch, I can then run it through a guitar amp for a fierce sound. I'm currently saving to get a custom instrument made that has guitar strings, plus inverted bass strings on the top of the neck. |
