How to get a drive sound similar to the BDDI with a VT Bass?

Sign in to disble this ad
I’d been using a Sansamp BDDI as my DI and the drive was always at noon. Now I have a Markbass LMIII and love using it’s XLR out instead. But I like moderately driven tones which my amp doesn’t have, so I bought a VT Bass hoping to upgrade my sound. For now I haven’t succeeded getting a tone I like. I was very happy with the drive the BDDI gave. Any help?

Please don’t say “So why don’t you use your BDDI?”. I love it but I know that the VT Bass will make me happy some day.
Thank you for any input…

What sort of settings were you using on the BDDI? Try putting the character up to just past noon, no higher than 1 o'clock. This should give you a bit of the clank that you get from the BDDI.
