Can I get this sound with electric bass? I'm womp wompin all the time, and I want to incorporate womp with my livetronica group. Any ideas on how to make this sound with bass guitars.

Um...Sorry but you're not going to get a studio sound out of electric bass.
I went through that phase a while back with trying to sound like Nosia.

The best solution is to find out what parts of a synth sound you dig:
Oscillator Type (Square, Saw, etc...)
Filters Type (Envelope Follower, LP, HP etc...)
Blah, Blah, Blah...
Then go after pedals that have that function. Build your modular synth rig and develop your sound.
I know it is easy to hear a sick track and say, "I want to sound like that!" You have to realize you are hearing the product of freaking tons of studio hours. Your not going to get that out of a pedal rig. If you want to hear some sick sounds that are do able on bass check out John Davis with The Nerve or Bond. Those sounds would be more realistic for live bass.

i just picked up a vibro thang. that with a pitch shifter and reverb is not to far off. ya gotta eq the heck out of it and have some strong sub-cabs to produce the sound.

i have other ways of doing it as well, but like mentioned above its not the exact same sound.

the syb-5 using an expresion pedal can get close too if you run an eq pedal and chorus.

another route is oc-2/mf-101/feq box, but that will cost ya more. more fun and sounds with that combo IMO.

oh yeah just google wobble wobble wobble. your not alone in this quest. that and questing the parliment flashlight sound.......

Well there is a pretty big difference between the a SYB-5 and the posted examples.

If you just want the modulation sound then yeah there is a lot of ways to do that. I recommend a good LPF w/ LFO.

It you want what is considered a Wobble in Dub Step or DnB terms there is a lot more to the sound.

Maybe I was looking to deep into the OPs examples.

If I remember correctly the first one is attach synth, the second and third are synth string.

also check out comet trails.. if you play with it you can get it to make bubble sounds like VH1 pop up video's. If you go to my bands website and listen to "spread the love" you can hear the bubbles in the recording.

+1 floridabwoy

I can get something pretty similar by going MXR Blue Box >> Ibanez Weeping Demon >> Pitchfactor for octave down. I usually run that in parallel with a Copilot Orbit. Will post clips when I get the chance.

RottenRamone you still hanging out on DogsonAcid? I really like'd some of the stuff I heard a while back from you. Are you still producing? I haven't made a serious track in years.

No expression pedal.

Thanks guys, but you really need to listen to rnilson, JohnDavisNY, fightthepower. Those guys are light years ahead. I have since gotten rid of the FM4 and instead of buying $100000000 in pedals, i bought a MicroKorg for my synthy needs.

A sick band y'all should check out is Greenhouse Lounge (http://www.myspace.com/greenhouselounge i think) they are a live dubtronica band from my home town getting some big slots.

..

floridabwoy: thanks man, yeah still writing tracks with my band, doing more minimal stuff... theres not many guitar/bass synthheads over here in singapore.

as for dogs on acid, i'm still there but mostly lurking. the ppl there seem to be obsessed with imitating someone else's sound, but hardly progressing on from there. but there are some people who still blow me away like Dom and Roland. so its less time on the grid and more time wasting on the board! lol
