How to get the most out of the Copilot Android & expression pedal?

Sign in to disble this ad
Just picked one of these up yesterday. Haven't had much time to find my ideal settings but so far very impressed, especially with the options to use it like a tremolo and ring mod on different settings. Read Burger Meister's review but still have a a few questions:

Where do you place yours: I have it in this signal chain:

Gibson Ripper > Guyatone BL-2 Limiter > Boss OC-2 > DODFX25 > Boss PS-5 > Boss PS-3 > > PE Depth Charge fuzz > Android.

The manual suggests using it after dirt, but i'm curious how people use theirs in their chain.

what expression pedals work with it? The EV-5 had no affect.

how does it differ from the Copilot Antenna 2?

you've got it in the right spot at the end. you might move it back between the fx25 and the PS-5, but if so i'd recommend moving the fuzz before it

as for the expression pedal, use it to match the frequency of the root you're playing. It's not really that easy on the android if you ask me, but that's how a ring mod works

I'll chime in:

For exp pedals i use the yamaha fc7, the line 6 also works, i tried the moog ep2 but it didnt work with the way i wire them.

The antenna is more dirtier than the android kinda like the bastard baby of a ring mod with a sampler reduction, that has realised that when he grows up want to be sound like a dirty theremin. The difference with the normal and 2 versions, is that the antenna2 it has built an lfo that sweeps the freq (wich can be turn off by one of the knobs or by plugging an exp pedal for manual control)

awesome, thanks very much for input direct from the source, this is one of the most interesting pedals i've bought in a while. I forsee many different sounds to come in combination with other effects, and i love the small size and analog tone.

i have an old Line 6 lying around, i'll try that.

i think i made the right choice with the Android vs. Antennae then, as i'm looking for more clean sounds, my rig is already heavily distorted, and starting with a more fuzzy rinng mod sound would just get horribly lost in my band mix [ very heavy psych, loud band ]. is there any way to dial down the dirt on the Antennae?

hmm, my fear is since the Android is already a bit dirty it will cause poor tracking on the pitch shifters, especially if i put my fuzz before them. they already have a hard enough time with my droptuning and overall mildly overdriven unaffected tone. seems it's sitting in a good place.

am i right to understand an expression pedal can be used to sweep the freq knob? the sounds i was getting by turning it by hand were completely unreal.

yep the exp will control the freq, paired with delay insane sounds can be get. As far as placement i will take the liberty to recommend to put it after the OC-2 (or after the fx25 depending on how the envelope reacts as the change of dynamics), there is chance that it wont affect the tracking on the PS-s i think they will benefit a bit.

Thanks! the Line 6 works. this is quickly becoming my favorite pedal! truly psychotic sounds to irritate all.
