I have an ampeg svt 450h. It sounds fairly tubish compared to other ss amps. What I am really looking for is that all tube sound from a pedal. I have seen some people here getting that sound through a tube DI, also a tube overdrive pedal. Could someone recommend something to me to get the smooth tube grind? The other thing I was thinking of just pairing that amp with an svp pro tube pre amp, but I am looking for something a little cheaper and in a pedal.

Their website claim it simulates the sound of an 8x10 cab but why isn't there a switch for this feature? I don't think I want speaker simulation if I'm playing through a real amp as well. I believe this kind of thing can get muddled if the simulation and the real speakers have fairly different sounds. |

Now, keep in mind that NAMM is not exactly the ideal listening environment (very noisy), but I can say that with my head directly in front of the amp and playing a Jazz bass at moderate volume, it sounded great. I am looking forward to hearing one in a more controlled environment whenever it's released! |

The ebs valve drive seems to be a popular option, I haven't tried it. There seems to be other pedals that have tubes in them, will anything with some tubes get me closer to the sound I want. Maybe like a english muffin or something else.

SVT stands for Super Valve Technology... so calling a solidstate amp an SVT is pretty disingenuous.
Get thee to a sansamp.
