you tell me if it sucks out too much low end heres a johnny cash cover my band did over the summer. The bass is recorded with just a rat and a mxl condenser mic on the bass cab. Mim p bass> rat> carvin r600> 2 2x15s http://soundcloud.com/det-larry-mcki...d-prison-blues

Use a rat running into a super trebley preamp like a rustybox or something. No tweeter ********. Use a pick. Traynor solidstate amps are great for this stuff, ignore anything said about sansamps/vt basses. uncle902.bandcamp.com is a jazzbass going into a distortion (some boss ds-1 or super distortion I think) going into a traynor monoblock.

Its not like pv bands actually play large venues. A 410 is good enough, really. You can get to volume levels that are far beyond comfortable with one.

[quote=gupjek;13376762]Ok, I have to admnit that I've always kind of ignored the Rat, because
I couldn't find much usefull demos and I can't test it in a local store.
So Rat, Rat2 and Turbo Rat are all recommendable? What about the Rat Juggernaut?

I've used Rat and Turbo Rat on bass and was very excited about the Juggernaut. Unfortunately it's a flop. Sounds like rotten plastic and Hitler's evil fart. The good old Rat is better. You could also check out the Fulltone Ultimate Octave Fuzz.
