How hot does your Power Adapter get ?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have another question , my 300mA adapter gets pretty darn cookin` after a gig running my Aphex Bass Xciter [ which i think accepts any 9v adapter ] , but for example running a standard Boss pedal [ 300mA ] , If I ran a 1000mA supply would that stay cooler because effectively its not having to supply so much amperage , or does the heat come from retaining power it doesnt have to supply ???? .

The heat comes from the adapter working hard - BUT some adapters are poorly/cheaply designed and not highly efficient. Therefore some adapters get very hot regardless of what they power basically because they are badly designed. It's like anything - You get what you pay for!

If you pushing the adapter to its draw limit though then even a good adapter is going to get warm after some time of working hard.

/\ that
sounds like you need a new power supply! I personally use a one-spot to power 17 pedals and it does it just fine with no issues (heat, pedal sound or well anything!)
