How many bass pedals do you use?

Sign in to disble this ad
I was thinking of experimenting with some pedals to see what sounds I can get, but I was wondering how many people use them on a regular basis.

Any well known players use pedals?

Almost certainly in the wrong section: check out the Effects section for lots about pedals!

The only pedals I use for music are the gas pedal and the brake pedal to get to and from rehearsals and gigs.

depends on how you have your rig setup. The only pedals I use are a Boss ODB-3 and an ISP decimator to kill noise. Any effects I have go through the loop from a processor. I also am thinking about picking up some kind of sansamp, but I like my amps tone (Carvin B800) so it is really not necessary.

Currently, I've got 24 pedals on a board that will fit 35 when my collection is (hopefully)complete. Make sure to remember that not everything that sounds good when you're alone practicing will sound good when in a band mix.

There all in my closet.

Other than a "tube overdrive" pedal sometimes, none.

I found my playing has improved without pedals.

It all in the hands.

I have about a dozen or so, and keep about 7 in my pedalboard at any one time.

I have 5 pedals +volume and an ART Tube MP (used as DI) on my board.

I never use more than 3 at a time, most of the time it's just one or two.
Two of the pedals(Tech 21 GT2 and Tech 21 VT Bass) perform basically the same function, so they are never used simultaneously. The other three are Boss TU2 (tuner), Boss BF2 (flanger), Boss OC3 (octave).

I own somewhere around 10 pedals, but I am currently only using 7 of them for my band. I kinda want to integrate more than just that into my playing normally, but in my current band this is working really well for me. I REALLY would like more variety though... current pedals in my chain:

tuner
Little Big Muff (Fuzz)
POG (octave generator)
tubescreamer (overdrive)
105Q (bass wah)
boss CH-1 (chorus)
homemade booster pedal

I had my first show with this band on friday and I used all but the booster in at least one song...

I also own a delay, looper, autowah, tremolo, and I am working on a blender pedal.

2 out of my 4 pedals were made for bass. They are my Dunlop 105Q BASS wah and my EBS ValveDrive. The other 2 pedals are a µPOG and an MXR flanger. I hope to sell the wah, bring my total number of bass effects down to just one.

I have 8 that are mine, currently borrowing 2. So that's "ten".
But 7 are on my pedalboard.

My response is, unhelpfully, "It depends."

Back in my gigging days, I never had much call for pedals. In one band, I used distortion on one song, that was it. In another, I used some compressor for the 3 or 4 slapping songs we did, that was it. Classical and jazz gigs on upright, nada.

At home, I enjoy fooling around with pedals, have owned a bunch. I like to play along with my favorite albums / songs, and if the bass on the recording has an effect, I like to mimic it.

Right now, I have three pedals (Boss LMB-3, Behringer BOD100, Rocktron Tri-Wah), another on the way (Danelectro Cool Cat Chorus, the new model), and another probably soon after (a delay of some sort).

I use a Boss TU-2 Tuner/Mute and a BBE Opto Stomp Compressor. I have a Boss CEB-3 Chorus and an MXR Phase 90, neither of which have been gigged lately. I have thought about using them again, or going all out with a GT-10B or something, but I think I usually sound better with less.

I have three main gigs so it depends.

Band One: Originally zero but now two

Band Two: Four

Band Three: Ten

I also play semi-regularly with a loose collective of turntablists and MCs. I used to bring a few pedals with me (mostly for synth like sounds) but next time I'm just taking the Octavius Squeezer.
