how many in the chain is safe?

is there a rule of thumb on pedals?,,how many can you(safely) use in line at one time?

ok have to run any help is appreciated/dang neighbors calling me up while making this post=bunch of DRUNKS!

You mean how many effects from bass to amp? You will run out of money far before you need to worry about too many pedals...

Well, there's no 'rules' per se, but bear in mind, the more pedals you run, the more prone your signal is to noise and tone/volume loss. A good pro multi-effect unit will let you lay on the sonic sauce pretty thick without this problem, but ANY effect using a higher gain structure will produce some noise.

Using power supplies with isolated outputs and quality cables will help with noise as well.

Maybe a few hundred or so would be problematic. I mean, look at some of the touring rigs of big time musicians, they don't seem to have a problem...

Well, if you buy lots of line selectors or something like Bradshaw's system, you could put hundreds of pedals between the bass and the amp without noticeably degrading the signal.

as many as you want. Even if your have signal loss it's so minimal and you play bass and no one's really listening anyway
