So I have a little problem. My birthday is coming up, which means more cash for bass gear, but I'm not really sure what to get. I've been looking at this bass: http://www.guitarcenter.com/Squier-b...29-i1166455.gc
and I'm not sure whether I should save up for this beaut' or look at some pedals etc. I play a range of styles, funk, classic rock, newer stuff, and some jazz. Are effects important for these styles? And if they are, which ones in particular should I be looking at?

I don't have a ton of basses and all the ones I have are kind of cheap. When I play expensive basses I can tell they are better, but just barely for the money. So for tonal versatility, once you get that fretless taken care of, then it is time to load up on effects!! |

What is it you are hoping to accomplish?
What do you like / dislike about the equipment you have now?
and finally, happy birthday

Don't forget to leave room to hop around. |

| Oh 20 or so, just don't go and buy the same pedal over and over again 20 times. |
