I'm not much of a pedal guy, but I find myself with 3 pedals now. A Tech 21 VT Bass, a BBE Opto Stomp, and a Boss TU-3 tuner. I've been resisting getting a pedal board, but I'm getting a little tired of having to plug all the pedals in every time I play. OTOH, I don't relish the idea of adding another case to haul around. All the pedals fit in my bag right now.
In your opinion, how many pedals justify the added bulk of a pedal board?

It doesn't have to be a nice one or a "made-for-pedals" pedal board, it could be a piece of wood with velcro. At least that would be something temporary until you decided whether or not you "needed" a pedalboard.

You don't have to go all out like he did. I just bought the shelf, spraypainted it black, screwed some feet on the bottom, slapped some velcro on the top and called it a day. Total price was about $45. |

I would hate to connect and disconnect my pedals every time I moved my gear and I've got room on the board for about 8 pedals.

We don't need no stinking pedalboard!
Edit: Just learned that this may have been an EHX Frequency analyzer.
ON topic, I agree that one pedal is sufficient to *justify* a board- if you need said justification.

I love mine, sometimes I consider moving up to the Mini, but the Nano helps contain GAS (I'll only keep what fits on the board). If you do buy a PedalTrain, I highly recommend buying it through Sweetwater. They include a 2 year warranty on anything you buy from them. The stitching on the handle of my bag started to come undone, I made a call to Sweetwater and within two days I had a new bag shipped straight from PedalTrain, between the two companies you get some solid support.

So if you're a person who uses only a tuner run on battery power, you probably don't need a board. Anything more than that though, and a board cuts down on setup time. |

I started with a little 3 pedal board, that grew to a little wider, then another row. It is a time saver to just plop the board down, esp now I have my wireless unit on there too. |
