Just wondering how many people (besides JMJ) use a 2 or more pedalboard setup for their effects. I guess I'd also consider rack gear + a pedalboard in that as well.
What do you use? How (genre of music, type of gigs, etc.)? |

I have a small gig board, witch i only have the pedals on that i really need
Boss TU2 -> Big Muff Pi -> Boss BF-2 -> Boss GEB-7 -> EB 6166
Then i have, a kinda of board at our rehersal room.. It's off course not made as properly as the gigging one, but has more room, to try things out. |

I suppose I have 4 boards then, counting the RC-50 and GR-20 that're just sitting off on their lonesome. |

I do however, use rack gear and pedals together. Some of the sounds I want are inside of pedals, and others are inside of rackmounted processors, and a bass player's got to do what a bass player's got to do to get the sounds. I use octave-->OD-->fuzz in pedal form, and then in the FX loop of my amp I use Mam Warp 9 (filter, VCA, tremolo, distortion, lots of good stuff)-->modulated delay rack units. Right now, I just put the pedals loose on the floor, but I'm working on building a bypass system so I can rack them and then just have one big control box at my feet.
Our genre is metal/industrial, and we play in dank basement bars, filthy loft parties, and upstairs of one grimy topless bar. We play small shows with very little stage space, generally with only vocals through the PA.
That probably wasn't helpful. |

I work it like this, my main board has on it whatever I'm doing plus a few toys so I can do some crazy stuff live if needed.
I've then got 2 other boards for jamming and solo stuff at home but all 3 boards might get used when jamming with friends or if we are writing a lot of songs we set up all the gear and see if we get any inspiration from riffs that might come out.
Alot of the misc pedals are discontinued, rare, vintage etc so worth keeping from an investment point and never know when you'll get a call saying we need you to play a track like this have you got anything that will do this etc.
End of the day I like my toys and I like combinations of various things.
Hope this helps

MXR NG/LD-ElectroniX Submarine-Boss PSM-5-Dr Q-ODB3-BassBalls- UniBass and either a Zoom 607 on the board or a Digietch BP-8 on the side.
My synth pedals are mounted on a smaller board:
EHX BassMicroSynth and Akai Deep Impact.
I am also constructing another board for gtr & piccolo bass. |

One board, an SKB PS45 contains my od's, Di, comp, eq, tuner, looper/switcher, and envelope phaser. All essentials. So now, a second board, an Ehx bag/board, houses all my Ehx fx, and they all run off the looper. Holy Stain, LPB-1, Octave Multiplexer, Clone Theory, Electric Mistress, Bassballs, Stereo Memoryman w/Hazrai. I still have room on my main board for a blender pedal, so....... |

I have all my stomp boxes on a board on the floor, and I have a Kaoss Pad wired into my Effects Loop. Eventually, it will be more than the KP, but for the time being, it is what I got.
I may even a+b/y my set up. 2 Marshall amps, 2 cabs. One clean with the KP in the loop, the other full of effects. It could get interesting, but then again...
I need to buy a van to lug it all around. I have a few ideas. I'll have to play. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
