I find distortion effect a major part of my bass sound, by no means I consider myself a wanna be guitar player, just love the dynamics between tones etc. specially for bass instrumental compositions. how much of this distorted behavior influence your bass playing. http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/carlossoto |

Im in a garage band/doom metal/stoner rock band, so yes, fuzz is a big part of my sound. Not so much distortion though |

Here is my recipe: a DOD classic fuzz OR an Ibanez tube screamer and a mu-tron phasor and a EH chorus to make a huge thick signal and drive an older transistor amp like a Lab L11 or a Peavey 400BH. Just hit a chord ala Lemmy or Kim Gordon, lean on into the cabinet and hold it for an unbelievable endless singing feedback!!!
Sunn Model T amps, fog machines and dark robes, while holy indeed, is NOT the only path to divinity! |

I like to combine distortion with chorus. it gives me a grungy but heavy sound. I'm definitely the type of bass player who likes to use effects. |

Though when I first started playing bass I thought I was so innovative for adding distortion to my bass.
It's so funny to look back and laugh at stuff like that.

I am guilty of insane fuzzing and beefy overdriving too. |

Then, when I want to get different flavors of heavy, I throw either a distortion or high gain fuzz over that.
light fuzz = BBM
distortion = Blues Driver
high gain fuzz = Musket v2
