How its looking so far,

HBE Hematoma
Bluebeard fuzz
BJFE Blueberry
Mojo Hand Cream Pie

These are all on my board i know some people might find that having 4 gain based effects is a little excessive but i love having the choice at my toes. I'm looking to buy that polish overdrive that people are going bananas for, should i include it as well or just keep it off my board!

IMO, "too much" is when the amount of doo-dads are hindering rather than helping your playing/sound.

If you use each of those pedals, it's not too much.

Well, let's see....

Bluebeard= Muff based Fuzz with clean blend
Blueberry= Very rare and coveted overdrive with mild treble roll off
Cream Pie= Low gain overdrive, often used as a boost
Hematoma= Colored Preamp often used for overdrive with boost

Those all seem pretty different to me. The fact that they are gain based is nothing, those all have very different uses available. Even the Polish love would provide another upfront overdrive with a different tone that you can set for a different gain level than the blueberry, to be used at a different time. None of that seems ridiculous to me.

That sounds like a nice little selection of gain pedals to me. I too have the Cream Pie and Blueberry and I also have a Woolly Mammoth and Octron (I'd the say the octron is technically a gain pedal), so I'd say it's not too much at all.

I definately agree! thats why there currently all on my board, there are too many fuzzes/overdrives that I'd want to include in my set up since I'm a sucker for those effects.

You need a heavy distortion to round out that lineup.

any suggestions? High-gain distortion doesn't seem to be talked about too much around here, mostly fuzzes and overdrives.

my board has a between 3-5 "gain/distortion" type pedals depending on what you consider to be a gain pedal..

visual sound jekyll and hyde- overdrive and distortion in one
messdrive - fuzz
zvex machine - some form of fuzz..just bizzare.
korg G5- straight up square wave synth sounds can be considered fuzz, i suppose.\

they all have specific uses..as long as your never like "well i could use either of these for that sound.." then you're in good shape.

My favorite heavy distortion sound is a XXLB running into a SansAmp BDDI. Supposedly, the VT Bass can do this sound all by itself, but I use my SansAmp too much, both as a DI and as a preamp (for hard rock and reggae stuff) to give it up.

The Landmine distortion is another good one, though it isn't as crunchy sounding and is almost halfway between distortion and fuzz.

If you have a blender (or a biamp setup) the ProCo Rat or the SansAmp GT-2 are pretty raw sounding, though they lose quite a bit of lows. Same with the Rust Ride though I'd call that a really heavy overdrive more than a distortion.

I've never tried it, but the 3X Fatman has gotten some positive reviews on TB as well.

Definitely, as soon as it gets here which should be tomorrow. I've got all kinds of frickin' pedals inbound in the mail (or UPS) right now. I wish some of them would hurry up and get here!

There's a slight but specific amount of clean signal run through the pedal when he makes them. Not a knob for clean blend, though.
