How would you get this tone?

TONE!

My signal chain is as follows:
Musicman SR5
Boss GT-6B
Gallien Krueger Backline 600
Gallien Krueger Backline 115

I suppose my problem is very similar to Damani's. I have 3 EQs, and I've messed around with all of them and I feel like I'm completely lost. I don't know what to boost/cut and where to do it.

The guy in the video uses an SR5 through an SVT Classic + 8x10. The GT-6B has models for both of these, but I don't like using amp modeling. The other basic tone shaping capabilities of the GT-6B include compressor modeling and a 3 band parametric EQ with adjustable frequency, gain, and Q.

I feel like the GT-6B has the most complex tone shaping capabilities, but maybe I'm... trying too hard...? Should I just leave the multi flat and work through my bass' EQ and the amp's EQ?

So yea, my question is basically how would you go about getting the tone of the video given the list of gear I have.

Strip it down. If the amp by itself can't mimic the SVT (which it prob. can't) then find the closest mimic on the GT-6B, and run it into the fx return on the amp head. That way you bypass the preamp of the GK. Leave your onboard EQ flat for the time being. What you've just achieved is the closest possible approximation of your bass through an SVT given the gear you have.

No EQ setting will do it, except for the "switching off the EQ" kind.

First, try unplugging your GT-6B and going straight from bass>amp.

Then set all your EQ flat (all knobs pointing up).

Leave your bass pointing up, boost your mids a bit, and cut the highs down to about a quarter.

That's a good place to start, but mainly just follow your ears.

IMO, when I'm trying to replicate a tone, it's easiest to start with the smallest amount of variables, and only add more things (like compression, for example) if you need them.

hope that helps!
