How would you get your Demeter Compulator to emulate Marcus Miller's sound?

How would you guys set your Demeter Compulator to emulate Marcus Miller's sound? I tried many different setting it seems... can't...? Maybe EBS Multi Comp works better for Marcus sounding?

Some different finger settings would be your best bet.

Well, I'm not sure the Demeter is the best compressor for his style. I thought the Maxon CP9+ was better for slapping. I haven't tried one, but based on bongo's review the EMMA compressor might be up your alley.

That said, unless you're Tony Levin, a compressor plays a very tiny role in getting your overall sound. Your hands, bass and amp are much more vital.

Hello guys, thanks all. Yeah, I know that hands, bass and amp are more important to the tone. errr... I am not really asking about his "tone" but his compressed slap sound.

I'm going to say Marcus could get Marcus's sound with a Demeter, but somebody who doesn't play with his exact technique, strings, etc. may have a harder time. Wouldn't be my first choice. Maxon CP9Pro+, yes; also maybe a bass-specific Orange Squeezer clone or modded CS-3.

very roughly said - try to set-up compressor to level when its impact on sound is very hearable but it doesnt make "up and down effect"(not sure how to call it).....marcus miller has strongly compressed tone I think he is not great example of "how to use compressor"

But the OP specifically said he wants to emulate Marcus's tone.
