How's the Sansamp British sound on Bass Guitar?

Sign in to disble this ad
Roger Glover, Burke Shelley, Phil Lynott, and Entwistle all got cool sounds out of Marshall plexis and the Sansamp British can emulate a plexi, I also don't mind the speaker simulation.

So does anyone have any experience with these things, can you get a decent sound out of them?

I think JimmyM uses a modded one. Maybe he will chime in.

I stalked a little bit. Jimmy does use one. The company named the mod after him. Here http://www.putnamguitars.com/

crazy, huh?

the british sounds great on bass, but unless you use it in a blend, it needs that mod. i don't like to use blends and mike said he'd do that mod so i could use it with both bass and guitar, and i'll tell you, i like it every bit as much as the vt now.

just a little crazy, jim you can kinda sorta get some of the sounds, but not all. you can get a basically flat sound out of both of them, but the knobs respond more like their respective amps (vt can boost lows and highs more), and the distorted sounds are different. the british is very much marshall flavored and the the vt is very much ampeg flavored. still, i personally could use them interchangeably since i go for an ever-so-slight scoop. so if you want the ampeg sound, don't get the british, and vice versa.
