I sense a comparison thread in the making. Original Swollen Pickle vs the Dunlop reissue. Clips, dammit, we need clips!

But if the new line is debuting at NAMM, my guess is that it won't be until late 2008 that somebody gets their mitts on one.

I kinda hear you mark, but IMO, there are some really nice sounding MXR pedals (M-188 Bass Auto Q, M-80 pre/DI, M-88 octave). Are these the best in their class?...No...but in their price range...Nice pedals.

I guess my point is I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt until I hear reviews, and hear and try them myself.

i totally agree. i really hope they turn out cool, I'm just worried that a big corporate Dunlop is gonna do "their thing" to the pedals and possible alter them in a negative.

time will tell, until then we'll just have to buy other pedals

We already know that original versions are always better.

Surely they won't be that bad, with Mr. Tripps overlooking everything himself?

Plus, MXR/Dunlop pedals are pretty good quality anyway - I think this sounds very promising.

+1, depending on the price point this could be fun.

Off topic, I ordered a Demeter Compulator from Musictoyz three weeks ago and I still havenīt got it. Starting to feel little cranky.

I'll be at NAMM in two weeks and I already have that booth highlighted for a visit. Pics will soon follow. Its interesting that on the exhibitors list Way Huge is listed as a separate company from Dunlop, though they are in the same booth.

Slightly OT, and I will probably regret this, but if there's anything in particular that you want to see pics of, send me a PM.

It says they will e making new designs which implies that they aren't going to be reissuing the old pedals. I hardly think they need to anyway, with the myriad of boutique boxes out there now. In the 90's they were a top dog, but now little they put out could still be considered unique.

What's the big deal with these? Aren't they all clones of other pedals anyway? I thought the only reason people wanted them was because of the weird "collectable" pedal market. So, now they're just going to be mass-produced clones of popular pedals... so, pretty much Behringer.

Way Huge pedals were clones, but they were clones that had been 're-engineered' to be way better than the originals.

On the face of it, I don't think this is bad news Dunlop is making them, after all they make some amazing pedals already. As for MXR boxes, what's wrong with that? Then think about how they are going to be made. Way Huge may have been an awesome company, but there are only so many grades of electrical components, so you can actually make a Way Huge clone at home that sounds as good. The genius in the design is not just the components, but predominantly the circuit design.

I for one will be very interested in buying one when they come out, but I still want to build my Swollen Pickle clone (my variant im planning to call the Swollen Muff!)
