hughes and kettner warp factor/DOD grunge revisited (clips)

so i promised clips a bit ago, and have delivered. i have demoed the hughes and kettner warp factor, DOD grunge and a keeley mod ds1. clean tone is at the bottom for reference. i played my OLP mm4 5 string with the bridge side pickup down to half. tone was all the way up.

HERE

the hughes and kettner was made for nu metal and drop tuned guitar asshatery. features include gain, level, warp, and a bass boost. the bass boost was engaged for all the samples because without it, there IS no bass. the warp knob is a mid shift that i have a clip of separately. i like it set low, but i know how some of you guys dig heavy distortion. it certainly delivers. they run >$50 these days, and behringer makes a knock off. the pedal itself is somewhat large. big black disc of doom. the only problems are that it requires its own power supply (12v or something), and the switch appears to be an old style click switch, it is actually half of one that is spring loaded to push a button on the PCB board. many people report problems with this, but i just started gigging with it after years, and its just starting to give me trouble. its a quick mod to fix it.

the first clip is the gain as low as it can go while still making sound. this is where i keep it. the gain goes up in varying degrees with the last one being max. i dont like it much higher than noon, as it just starts adding noise and over-compressing after that.

i decided to revisit the grunge as some people requested some clips that werent subsonic. daniel tulip is his own kind of creature, and i can imagine why some would want to hear this pedal function above 100 hz (or is it 420 hz?)

the first clip is the low at 1 o clock, highs turned off, and the grunge at minimum. i then maxed out the low, and tested the grunge at noon and max

while i had it out, i threw in my keeley mod ds1, as im sure not many have tried it for bass. tone was at 9 o clock and the distortion at noon. you'll notice that it isnt as thin and harsh as a regular DS1. the gain is a lot smoother and overall the pedal doesnt suck anymore.

hope you all enjoy, there is more to come im sure.
