I actually really like the Op-amp big muff (sacrilege)

yep i said it. i own a v3 big muff (1979) and i love the thing. it has the dreaded and often bashed Op-Amps (no transistors here) and i think that's why i love it. the transistor based big muffs i've owned (ram's head, 2 of them) were very very biting and aggressive. more like a fuzz face. the op-amp is very mellow and "wall of sound" bassy thick fuzz. no edge and no sharpness to this muff.

anyone else like the op-amp big muff?

Also would love to hear some clips. My USA reissue Big Muff just isn't cutting it anymore (no pun intended).

I've had my '77 muff for years as my main dirt pedal. Mine lacks the tone-lift switch; it has instead a power on/off switch. My guitarist & I did an A/B comparison with his NYC reissue, and found the op-amp version to retain more low end, but otherwise sound fairly similiar.

Nearly time to retire it though - I think I'll build one with a clean low-pass/effected hi-pass option in it, and a modified 2 knob tone...
