There's a reason we all got into using effects. Some of the lucky iconoclasts here may beg to differ, but I'd bet most of us started using pedals because we listened to an album or a single, heard an absolutely killer tone coming from the lower frequencies, and became infatuated with it.
You know it, I know it, we all know it... Getting "that tone." Be it the Hysteria fuzz, the Schism Whammy, the Down With Disease filter, The fuzz/phase of Larry Graham's instructional video...
Eventually, of course, most of us figure out that replicating someone else's tone is at least A) costly, B)ultimately futile, and C) a gateway to endless mocking from our peers.
Still, a few soldier on, and end up with all the fixings for a board like Justin Chancellor's, or (more recently) Chris Wolstenholme's.
Gentlemen, with a final few clicks of a mouse, I have taken that plunge... May I present you, Deluge of Sound's Al Cisneros tribute board: |

That's the beauty of pedals IMO, is not that they can get you to sound like bassists a or b, or animal c, "all the time"; but rather that you can be doing your own thing and then step on a button and suddenly use that hero voice to get people's attention. |

Pedal is inbound, smokes are on the back burner. Om records are playing loudly in the background for "urge suppressant." |

And +1 for the supercollider 250 showdown. Quote:

I like that. "Hero voice". Makes my next pedal purchase a little more on the "need" side than the "want" side of things. I'm savin the world baby, I need this tool.
