ok, so i have decided that i am either going to get a....
digitech bass squeeze
robert keeley compressor
electro harmonix soul preacher
i know that only the digitech is a bass compressor, but i have read (and heard) the that the other two are ok with bass if you adjust the EQ accordingly on the amp.
i have a fender rumble 60 and an ibanex btb400
which should i go for, or have i overlooked any obvious ones? |

Demeter Compulator
EBS Multicomp
BBE Opto Stomp
Maxon CP9 Pro
Read http://www.ev-b.com/compressors.html if you haven't done so already, lots of good reviews in there, focussing on use on bass. |

Joe Meek has a compressor pedal comming out, I dont know if street is 199 or if that is retail, but its a full Joe Meek.
But out of the above mentioned, I would try out the maxon ( ibanez ) and the demeter.

It's not a transparent compressor - i don't think it was meant to be. With it being multi-band compressor, you have a knob to tweak the crossover frequency from low to high band, and have individual compression settings for each high and low band. Which is plenty of control to tweak compressions separately.
the one and only problem I have with this compressor is that it eats 1 battery for breakfast and 2 for lunch - you'll have to use the AC adaptor to save battery $$. |

I have also realized that you get what you pay for when looking at pedals except for some of the Behringer clones. Twice I have been pleasantly surprised. The BDI21 and the Ultra Flanger

Second, the Digitech is straight up crap. I know there are people who use it and like it, but there are people who eat at McDonald's and like it too. Thirdly, I do not recommend trying to use an EQ to "fix" a compressor that loses low end. You'll usually just end up with super-boomy low mids, and probably some extra noise. It's much better to just choose a comp that doesn't lose any low end in the first place. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
