I have reached bass FX contentment!

Am I sick? I don't feel warmer than usual. It is an odd feeling I have, but I am actually content with my bass FX board and how it fits in with the two churches I play at each weekend.

Micro Thumpinator
Tuner
Growler (Flanger in Channel 2 insert)
EQ

That is the pedal chain. As much as I thought I wanted a Malekko AD (or similar) or 3Leaf Proton, I don't actually NEED them. And I am certain I could make use of an FEA Opti-FET if they ever come back into stock, but still not NEEDED.

This is a nice peaceful feeling I am having. It is weird!

I have been in this place for the most part lately. I hope it last for awhile. Strangely, out of the blue, I bought a pedal lastnight though...A foxx foot phaser in green fur...I hope I love it!
The DHA that I ordered 6 weeks ago made it (as you know Mr Moar Knobz!!). Definately going to cause some shuffling on my board. Why do I buy and sell the same pedal twice (IE QF2 is probably going to have to go now....I can't have $700 worth of OD/Distortion on my board and they both are big).
Please let me return to a settled place with my effects like I was 2 days ago!

Same... I've dwindled down to a Line6 A5, and an MXR M87 compressor... and I really don't need more for what I do.

You will regret -- again -- selling the QF2. It doesn't have to sit on the board, but about the time you find a need for it --again -- will be two days after you've shipped it off to a new owner.

It's a strange feeling indeed, to look down at the flor and think, "All I need is here."

I mean, sure there are toys and stuff that I would take and tool around with if someone gave them to me. But, I wouldn't put them in my chain and I no longer seek out that missing piece.

I think my problem is that I have $1000 worth of fuzz,OD, and Distortion and it is only 3 pedals. It seems very indulgent, especially since I am a "poor college student" and my lady and I just bought a house.

*Relunctantly whispers
"Yes, that must be the problem. Reponsibility has started to sneak into my life."

*A tear runs down his cheek
"I just want to RAWK! Damn you RESPONSIBILITY!!"

*Sniffle
"I have to log off so I can start to prepare dinner and study for my MacroEconomics exam"

Since going to a smaller (but crammed*) board i am very happy at performances getting the sounds I want w/o the confusion. At that I have several variations mainly switching out the 2 fuzz options. Honestly I don't see ever gigging with the big board anymore but you never know.
* ok so 11 pedals is not exactly streamlined.....

I finally reached FX contentment when I bought a cheap case that I converted into a pedal board and then bought a T-Rex power brick.

My final setup is...

tuner
delay
chorus
fuzz
compression
DI

I'll check back with you next week to see what new FX you've purchased. It's inevitable.

I'm enjoying that feeling, too. This was one of the most rewarding quests ever, and I'm sort of pleased that I'm done. That doesn't mean I'm done with effects, as I'm now interested in learning as much about chorus pedals as I can, and use my gift of wordsmith-ery to entertain at least thirty people on a very specific forum on the Internet.

But you dont have a Fender Sub Lime fuzz pedal yet. Not exactly a staple in church venues but just the same... you cant quit now.
