It's simple really. with only about $13 in parts and a little soldering know-how, you can make your own. all you need is:

1 Stereo Switchcraft Jack
2 Mono Switchcraft Jacks
3 colors of wire (i used red and green for live and black for ground)
1 Metal Project box (you can get metal or plastic)

TOOLS:

Drill
3/8" drill bit
soldering iron
wire stripper

Here are pictures In and out

And here it is with next to my foot for size comparison (this is the bottom of the box.

Very nice. So it pretty much splits your mono signal into two mono signals for a stereo effect?

Yes, exactly. Simple enough. Cheaper than a Y-cable and definitely cheaper than a Rickosound box

Awesome. I'm sure people would buy some if you made them in a smaller encolsure.

Yeah, I didn't know how big of one I'd need at first. Now i know this size is a tad too big. I can make one with 1/4 the size. the size of a cellphone.

You can use just three mono jacks. The stereo jack isn't needed, since two of the three contacts just go to ground.

no you can't......If your using it with a Ric. the Ric-o-sound out on the BASS needs a stereo cable to go to the stereo input on the box, then they are separated at the Ric-o-sound box(1 mono signal for each p\up) to be sent to two different amps..if you use a mono cable, you'll only get one p\up..BTW, nice job on the ROS build and, that is WAY cheaper than a real ROS box

Yeah, i was a bit bored and had the parts around so I decided to get started. 20 minutes later after drilling the holes and soldering, it was complete.

Aren't you going to get significant signal loss due to the passive split or am I missing something?

Rick-o-sound jacks are stereo jacks that split the two pickup signals into separate single mono signals , i.e. separating the pickups, one treble pickup signal, one neck pickup signal.

The stereo cable goes from the Rick-o-Sound jack on the rickenbacker to the stereo jack on the Box. The signal is now divided into 2 separate signals, one per pickup. The Neck pickup goes to one jack, and the treble pickup goes to the other. These jacks are mono jacks, so a standard instrument cable will work. Each jack goes to its own amp for "stereo" sound and modifying of each pickup for a unique sound.

You can't do this without a stereo jack on the rickosound box, therefore, you can't do this with three mono jacks.

I made a box for a friend with a Rickenbacker a while ago which took the two signals from the stereo jack and ran them through separate processing before combining to send to an amp. One pickup channel had a comp and small eq and the other had an overdrive. You could also switch which pickup went where.
