Bought a PT jr from MF and a Turbo Tuner from Alpha Music. Both were shipped UPS ground
Both packages arrived in Vernon, CA @ 11:59 PM yesterday.
This morning the MF package was Out for Delivery" while the Alpha Music package was still in Vernon with the update: "Adverse Weather May Cause Delay"
It's a beautiful day here BTW.
LOL.
In retrospect I should've bought my TT from Sonic Research itself but I didn't want to give any money to CA.

UPS is EVIL.

UPS is EVIL. | Not for me. UPS (who I deal with more than anyone else) and Fedex have both been very good to me the last ten years since I started getting stuff off the internet on a regular basis. I have had nothing but trouble from USPS the whole time though.

I'm quite sure there are many who could come up with worse stories about any one of the carriers. Like I said, I have had no problems with either UPS or fedex, and nothing but problems wwith USPS. Unless soemone has statistics to show otherwise, I'd bet that they are all pretty much the same in the long run.

I ordered a new head last Saturday (GK 1001RB II) and it shipped out on Monday via UPS and they have not updated their tracking info since early Tuesday Morning which pisses me off.... I have called them and they keep telling me it will deliver today... I guess we'll just have to wait & see.....

Guy on the phone explained that the package is still in the last scanned location, Hodgkins , IL. He also said that due to a huge storm last week they are still catching up on shipments. Naturally I asked him then why does the web tracker app say "Last Know Location Vernon, CA"? He said that is not the "true location". I gave up after that...
BTW Major Props to Alpha Music for helping me track the package down yesterday. For some reason I did not get a tracking from them but a call and a call back from them cleared it right up. |

However, stuff I buy from Amazon, Buy,com etc. shows up nearly instantly via UPS - very fast! Competition makes them all better.

| | | | I'm at the "end-of the-day" part of the route for both Fed-Ex and UPS.
At least twice over the last year or so I've been scheduled to receive something from Fed-Ex on a particularly day. I checked the status periodically, and, suddenly late in the day the status changed from "Out for delivery" to "No answer, no one home" (or something like that). Except I was home all day on both occasions and it's not like they ever actually ring the doorbell and wait anyway...

When I am waiting for a package, I leave my front door open so the delivery person will see that someone is home. I understand that this may not be possible for some people but it works for me. |

For UPS, I kept checking the tracking and it said Delivery Exception twice. The FedEx tracking had no issues and both arrived yesterday in great shape.

When I am the shipper, I always go for USPS unless I'm shipping something really heavy or really valuable. UPS and Fedex can't even come close to matching the speed and price of USPS priority. The amount of money USPS has saved me over the years of constant pedal buying and selling could easily pay for a lost pedal or two (even though they still haven't lost a package of mine yet).

I have no idea where MF ships from,...my guess is they have numerous warehouses throughout the country (I could be way off base).
Alpha got it's start as a local musical instrument store (one of the best in the Hampton Roads area) but as the big box stores (now defunct M.A.R.S. music and Guitar Center) started to move in they needed to compete and added an internet store front (probably a few years after I left the area). |

Pennsylvania I usually get stuff from them on average in about 3-4 business days, even with standard shipping, whether they use USPS or UPS.

Every time they've "tried to deliver it and left notification" somebody has been home and available to answer the door and no notification is left on my door or mailbox.
