No one has the exact same taste so there will always be someone who doesn't like a certain pedal even if 99.9% of the players think it's the greatest thing since French toast.
Have you tried any?

I wouldn't buy the clone-danelectro pedals, but that overdrive review that was just posted sounds good, and it's cheap. |

Muffs are always a good place to start when you look for distortion. |

Have you tried any? | Yea(lol french toast), I went to sam ash with 100 bucks flat and all they could give me was a zoom pedal which has a bunch of crap(sounds) in it, and a digitec overdrive which I was pretty confy with but I dont know how long it will last me. =\

The Bad Monkey is pretty popular around here, it might be worth looking second hand. |

Have you tried any? | To prove a point- I don't like French toast
You can get a lot of the Boss- type distortions (Metal Zone, Heavy Metal, Metal Core, DS-1, etc.) in that range if you go used. If you're not sure if fuzz, OD, or distortion is what you're after, I'd spend a good amount of time on Youtube and in the FX Clip Database to figure out what you want. |

When I think heavy & deep, I think Mastodon style bass distortion, wich would be fuzz, a Big Muff/Bass Big Muff would be worth looking into for that. But it's all a matter of preferance & such |

Originally Posted by maggot_me I don't really know I just want a heavy sound or deep..? I might not know what im talking about | Go to the top of the page and click the link to the 'talkbass effects wiki'.
It has a list of a bunch of effects- all kinds from lots of different manufacturers. Listen to lots and find some that you think sound good. Then, search the names of the ones you like here on talkbass using the search function-- for many of them you will be able to find in depth reviews and more soundclips done by members here.
Once you've done this, you'll not only know a lot more about what is out there, and what you want based on what you've heard. Then come back and ask more questions and we can better assist you in finding the pedal that you know you really want-- not just random suggestions that may or may not work out for you! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
